Happy New Year and Welcome to 2016!

For years we’ve all sought out vitamin solutions (which are on the right track) but popping a few vitamin tablets and calling it a day isn’t enough…

The answer is that every surfer’s body needs a vastly improved intake in a wide range of nutrients, and we need to have simple nutritional solutions… Solutions that will vastly improve our nutritional intake, through functional superfoods with higher nutritional values. These functional foods enable us to easily gain wellness.

To prepare you for the upcoming new year, we’re kicking off this year with 3 Surf Fitness Superfoods that we believe will help you feel more energy, feel fresher and perform better in the surf:

6a00e0097e4e68883301bb08592308970d-700wiQuinoa is fast becoming the holy grail of super-grains for its rich nutrient content, protein level and low-GI gluten-free properties. A source of antioxidants, essential minerals, protein and fibre, this complete superfood ensures complete wellness. A far superior choice compared to other carbohydrates or grains due to a recognised need to move away from traditional processed starches, quinoa has a mild, nutty flavour and can be eaten as porridge, as a rice substitute, or added to desserts and baking making it one of the most flexible superfoods around.

chiaChia Seeds are a complete super food and one of the richest plant sources of omega 3, dietary fibre and protein. Originating from South America, chia seeds have been used as a food for thousands of years by the Mayans and Aztecs, but only recently discovered by the western world. These nutrient dense seeds also contain a wide range of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, and good fatty acids making them an excellent way of supercharging smoothies, desserts and baking.

Health-Benefits-of-Goji-BerriesGoji Berries provide a natural approach to wellness for those who want to maintain a youthful, energetic lifestyle. Goji berries have been shown to have one of the world’s highest (if not the highest) antioxidant levels, as measured scientifically by the ORAC test. In fact, the ORAC value of Morlife Goji berries is a whopping 4 times higher than fresh blueberries (heralded as the king of antioxidants). These incredible fruits are perfect in cereals, for an on-the-run snack, thrown in a trailmix, tossed through a salad, stirred into yoghurt and used to supercharge other meals in order to radically increase your life essence.

Start your 2016 with one of the following post-surf smoothies:

Combine all the ingredients into a high speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately and enjoy.
