Hi all!

The following is our Top-10 list of spots to go surfing in the world. These are not single surf breaks such as Pipeline or Teahupoo, but not always the whole countries. This is part II.:

Do you have your favourite region/area of the world that you think should be included? Please let us know in the comments…

7. Bali, Indonesia

Loved especially by Australians – for its proximity, relatively low prices and surf season that lasts all year round – Bali is a great destination for a family surf vacation, or pretty much any sort of trip when there are both surfers and non-surfers involved. It would be definitely in the top-4 20 years ago, but crowd levels both in and off the water have taken a little bit away from its original charm. Nevertheless, it is still a classic and every surfer should go there at least once! Great learn-to-surf spot too.

Top Spots: South of Kuta; west coast (Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Canggu) between October and April, east coast (Nusa Dua, Sanur) works best between November and March.

Best Surf Breaks in our opinion: Uluwatu si fantastic with its many sections, and is less crowded when it gets over 8 foot. Nusa Dua, but crowds can be an issue. Keramas is one of our favourite right-handers.

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation in Bali, but in general we recommend you to stay out of crowded, dirty Kuta – unless you are on a $20/day budget. There is not too many places in the world where you can rent a whole villa, outside Bali. If you want to learn to surf, there some good and well-maintained surf camps in Keramas, Canggu and in other parts of Bali.

6. South Pacific (Fiji, New Caledonia, Samoa)

Pacific Ocean, although not as consistent as Indian Ocean, has some famous spots but even more hidden gems. Fiji is well known – notorious for Cloudbreak, it is a perfect family trip with a bit of cultural experience. Samoa is getting recognized only recently and offers a similar experience with less crowds in water. New Cal is our favourite: Fantastic cuisine, prefect reef passes and amazing scenery.

Top Spots: Mamanuca Islands in Fiji if you are advanced surfer. New Caledonia boat trip for a bunch of guys will take you around this beautiful island – but it is all reef so not perfect for not experienced surfers. Samoa’s main island Upolu is a swell magnet and has some good surf resorts.

Best Surf Breaks in our opinion: Cloudbreak (L), Frigates (L) and Wilkes Passage (R) in Fiji, Salani (L/R) in Samoa and Ouano (L/R) & Tenea (L) in New Caledonia are our favourite.
